Puttenham Church of England Infant School

Puttenham Church of England Infant School

Fox Class

Welcome to Fox class!

We are a mixed class with Year 1 and 2 children and we love to work hard and have fun! Miss Laver and Mrs Pinnegar are the class teachers and our teaching assistants are Mrs Love, Mrs Abbas and Mrs Ellis-Hughes.

We are lucky enough to have direct access onto the playground from our classroom, which happens to be beside the school ‘Quiet Garden’.  We also have learning time in all outside areas including our very popular Forest School as well as our school allotment, which springs into action after Easter! Our class love the larger space of the hall for lessons such as yoga, PE and drama as well as breaking out into small groups to utilise the library, cabin and group room with the class teacher or teaching assistant.

Fox class also work closely with the other classes. We offer lots of opportunities for them to learn together, with phonics being split across our classes.  In the Summer Term, all of the Year 2s from both Otter and Fox classes take part in ‘Puttenham Speaking and Listening’

In our mixed age class, all of our children are challenged and extended in their learning as we aim to meet the needs of each child.  We adapt our learning objectives and resources to cater for the different age groups, abilities and year groups.

As a Christian school, our values of love, hope, wisdom, resilience and respect run through all our learning topics.  Each classroom has its own reflective prayer area and everyone has access to the whole school prayer area at playtimes if the children choose to use them.

Fox Class love reading from and listening to both fiction and non-fiction books.  We read for pleasure using books from our class reading area and the school Library.  Our class love listening to our ‘Favourite 5’ books at the end of the day and learning lots of new skills to support their reading.

The children in Fox Class have the opportunity to work independently, in small groups, across the year groups and through mixed ages where appropriate.  Responsibility wise, our Year 2s take turns with Otter class, to help lead assemblies by doing ‘Cross and Candles’ and have a turn as a Playground Buddy.  We voted which class members from both Year 1 and Year 2 represent Fox class on the School Council as part of our British Values.

Since September, we have been very busy making new friends, creating delicious smoothies, creating our very own Andy Warhol inspired artwork, learning all about the story ‘Supertato’ and spent time looking out for clues as to where that mischievous ‘Evil Pea’ could be, got muddy at Forest School, spotted signs of Autumn on a seasons walk, used the iPads in computing, added and subtracted  our way through maths lessons, problem solved and worked collaboratively in pairs, groups and teams….and we can’t wait to keep learning!

Mrs Pinnegar (Monday and Tuesday) and Miss Laver (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday)
