Safeguarding Children

Safeguarding Statement at Puttenham CofE Infant School

Puttenham CofE Infant School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff, visitors and volunteers to share this commitment.

This means that we have a Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy and safeguarding procedures in place. All staff (including supply staff, volunteers and governors) must ensure that they have read, understood and follow our policies and procedures.  All adults working with the children in school must carry out an annual safeguarding update and read 'Keeping Children Safe in Education'. Parents, carers and visitors to the school are encouraged to read the policy which can be found on our website or a paper copy is available from the school office.

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about pupils are discussed with their parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a decision would be contrary to the child’s welfare.

If you are concerned about the safeguarding of a child at any time, please contact a member of the Safeguarding team as soon as possible by phoning 01483 810317 or via email dsl@puttenham.surrey.sch.uk. The DSL can be contacted out of school hours by emailing dsl@puttenham.surrey.sch.uk

Our Curriculum

Keeping children safe is our highest priority. Through our curriculum we support the children’s understanding of how to keep safe and what to do if they are worried.

Alongside our curriculum, we deliver a range of experiences to enrich and consolidate the children’s understanding of how to keep themselves safe. These include assemblies and activities in the themes of respectful relationships, anti-bullying and online safety. The school participates in Anti Bullying Week, Internet Safety Day and NSPCC campaigns.

On line Safety

This is taught in discrete lessons each term as part of the RSHE and computing curriculum. The children are reminded of the online safety rules each time they use a device. We participate in the internet safety day each year.
